The Domovoi

Hi, I'm the author. I apologize if there are any shortcomings in the game. Hopefully it will be okay if I respond in English.
I've read the problems people had on this page and I understand some of them, but some phrases I can't translate. I understand some people had problems the story is written in English and not Russian. I actually think a Russian version would be great and would be willing to pay a writer to translate the game. Contact me at kevarr@gmail.com if you are interested in discussing that option.
The other critiques I read seem to concern a Westerner writing a game about this subject. While I love Slavic mythology and I did two years of research on the time period the game is set in to try to show respect for it, I know there are very serious limitations to what someone from another cultural background can do.
Thank you to everyone who played the game!
Never mind on this topic, we appreciate any Westerner's interest towards the Slavic mythology. Thank you for making a game about a Domovoy.
What a surprise. You've made a really interesting and unique game without a single cultural contradiction that I know of, and (obviously) without the typical weird vodka-balalaika stereotypes. For a Westerner, that's the most accurate representation I've ever read to date. Excellent.
For total immersion in this subject, I advise you to look at the Soviet cartoon - "Dyadyushka Aaooo"
and
"Domovionock Kuzya"
=)))))
Not really authentic.
Куда уже аутентичней, самый домовистый домовой из всех домовых. ;) Старый добрый - Домовенок Кузя.
Sorry to be a party breaker, but it has little to do with slavic domovoi spirit. This story and its characters are heavily adapted to small age (did you know that the cartoon was made after the book btw? A pretty fine book, as I remember it).
Domovoi can be really evil, just as shown in the game. People who buy themselves cute domovoi figurines to have more luck seem to not know it...
Domovoi is not simply so evil or good. Everything depends on the attitude of people to the house and farm. If they lead good farm, taking care of the house, then Domovoi - will be good, and vice versa. All this shows that in Slavic mythology all logical and correct according with the accumulated knowledge and experience.
Cartoons for children, yes, however they are very funny and directly convey understanding of this mythological creature: images, music, behavior and tone talkingand so.
P.S. This game is good and atmospheric, but painfully all pissimistichno and plaintive. We are not all so sad ...
P.S.S. Oh yeah, sorry for my bad English.
These are absolutely lovely! Somehow I'd never seen them, even though I'm also a stop motion animator (I love Starevich and the other greats). Thank you for bringing them to my attention.
